10 Mistakes Women make that sabotage their Leadership Brand

Do you really know what you’re famous for around the office? Has anybody in your organization been brave enough to tell you? These are not a trivial questions. Your Brand conveys your identity as a Leader, and if you have the wrong brand, your work is not having the impact it should.

Women — often unknowingly — sabotage their brand.

Laura is a hard worker who checks in with her boss daily and offers suggestions on process improvements. She thinks she’s known for being helpful. Nobody’s told her that everyone says she’s ‘needy’. Sasha is brilliant. The go-to person if you have a question about operations. She thinks of herself as detailed oriented. The perfect SME. Nobody’s told her everyone thinks she’s a bore. Laura and Sasha could’ve easily corrected their brands, if they’d avoided these mistakes.

WHEN WHAT YOU SAY DOESN’T MATCH WHAT I SEE, YOU’VE GOT A BRANDING PROBLEM.

ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A LEADER WHO TOLD 5 STORIES

Increase Engagement, Manage Change & Set Strategy by Telling Purposeful Stories.

There are 5 fundamental narratives that every Leader needs to be able to tell. Learning what these stories are—and when to tell them—will propel success in any organization.

Great story telling is more than just entertainment; it’s an essential and underutilized professional business tool. Whether you are a senior executive, management consultant, sales manager, or an HR professional if you are not using storytelling to motivate and engage your teams you may be failing to communicate the importance of your message. The risk? Everyone stays content with the Status Quo and none of your ideas gain traction.

Excellent for Leadership and High Potential Development programs.

WHY SPEAK UP?

Because…

If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it.

If you don’t ask, the answer’s always no.

If you don’t step forward,  you’re always in the same place.

CAN YOU BOUNCE?

VERY.FAV.DSC_0927Ever drop an egg? Broken shells and goo all over the place. What about an apple? Drop that, you’ve got mush.

Now, think about what happens when you drop a rubber ball. It bounces, right. An Egg. An Apple. A Rubber Ball. All similar in shape—but definitely not similar in terms of their relationship to gravity. People are like that too.

We all have different levels of bounce in us.
